growing up between worlds
my messy, beautiful story
dad's indie rock on sunday mornings. my first guitar at five — a tiny acoustic that was almost bigger than me. a house full of music and the feeling that anything was possible.
“i didn't know what identity meant yet. i just knew music felt like home.”

parents split. moved across the ocean to live with mom and po po. discovered faye wong through po po's vinyl collection — 200+ city pop records that became my entire world. that was the moment music stopped being a hobby and became who i am.
“po po would put on a record and say nothing. we'd just sit there, listening. that silence taught me more about music than any lesson ever could.”

back in canada but feeling foreign everywhere. not canadian enough. not hongkongese enough. bedroom pop covers on youtube with 50 views. discovered blackpink, grimes, ableton. started mixing city pop samples with trap beats at 2am.
“i'd record at 2am because that's the only time the world was quiet enough to hear my own voice.”

barista by day, insomniac producer by night. an EP that 12 people heard. considered quitting music for a "real career." ramen dinners and doubt. then something shifted — i stopped trying to sound like everyone else and started making the music only i could make.
“the worst part wasn't failing. it was almost giving up right before it started to click.”

i stopped trying to pick a side. i'm not between two worlds — i am both worlds. neon dreams is that realization turned into sound. every anxiety, every midnight thought, every moment of feeling too much — it's all in there. and if you listen closely... there's always something hidden beneath the surface.

“if you've ever felt like you don't fit into neat categories — this music is for you.”
